Learning to embrace the crazy that comes with family life and finding satisfaction in doing just enough.
Welcome to Good Enough and Stuff! A place where I’ll be sharing easy and fast meals for the family, dive into the shallow end of a lot of different crafts and projects, and make it “Good Enough” for a happy home!
My husband, Nathan, and I have been married for almost 14 years now. He’s my best friend. We have six wonderful, crazy kids. Three boys, three girls. We love spending every weekend swimming, hiking, and slogging through the mud in search of some interesting scenery. If you’ve ever been to our house, you’ve seen the big pile of muddy shoes on the porch right by the front door, which is good enough.
We’ve moved around a lot for Nathan’s schooling. We can now call him Dr. Miller and he is a fantastic psychologist.
We love learning new skills and trying to make things ourselves. I love to find ways to make things as quick and easy as possible.
At some point in the near future (hopefully) we’d love to buy an old house with some land and try our hand at homesteading. Gardens, goats, chickens, restoring. We’ll take you along for that journey also when the time comes!
About Me
I’m from a small town in Washington State. I love the country and the trees. I am number 8 of 10 kids. It was a blast growing up with that many kids!
I have a Bachelor’s in Music and I love to sing. Nathan and I love to sing together actually. I might put some singing videos up at some point.
I love to bake but mostly I love to eat what I bake. So, the process is best when it doesn’t take that long. I’m all about fast recipes!
I also love try out different crafts. I don’t think my talent lies is making things look “perfect” or “professional”. I’ve been told my finished products are “artistic” and “whimsical”. I just like making things and I don’t have the patience to get things “just right”.
I love to make on-the-go freezer meals and snacks for my kids to grab. I know they are taken care of and I don’t hear “we don’t have anything to eat” anymore 🙂
Like many others in 2020, I started on a sourdough journey. I think it’s going ok so far and I’m loving it!
I have a passion for old furniture, especially chairs. We have too many in our house and that’s even after I gave some of them away. It’s fine. I’m fine.
I work from home as an ESL teacher for VIPkid. I teach children in China simple English. For me that means I wake up at 2:30am, teach from 3:00 to 7:00, and then start the day with my own kids. I really like it because it doesn’t interfere with my home life with my kids very much.
**Edit: I taught VIPkid for 4 years and ended that endeavor in 2021. It was a great experience and such a blessing to my family.
Fun Facts
I love Napoleon Dynamite. Hilarious movie. When he throws that steak at Napoleon’s face and it knocks his glasses off. That kills me!
I like to eat slightly burnt pancakes. Growing up with 10 kids, my older siblings would often make pancakes Saturday morning and there were always a bunch of burnt ones. It’s just a comforting taste to me. I don’t make burnt pancakes on purpose now, but I will gladly eat them and take one for the team 😉
I wanted to be called “Cookie” when I was little. I’m glad that didn’t catch on.
I was an avid tree-climber as a kid and I only remember falling out of one once.
