peaches cut in half for three peach recipes

Peaches are just such a “Summer” thing. Peaches, watermelon, strawberries, cucumbers! You can almost feel the heat of the sun and the spray of the sprinklers. Hear the lawn mowers and airplanes and kids screaming in delight.

I’m posting this just after summer is over this year because I’ve had blog stuff on the back burner for about a month. But it’s never too late to eat some summery food 🙂

When I was little my mom would sometimes get an entire box of peaches during the summer.

Wow! That color is amazing!

I’m not typically a grape jelly fan. I’ve mentioned this before. Growing up we mostly only had two kinds of jelly: strawberry and grape. There was nothing exciting about either of those but I definitely preferred the strawberry to the grape any day.

I almost never buy grape jelly as an adult. And now, much to my surprise, grape is the “special” jelly for my kids! I guess because it’s so “rare”.

My oldest, Noah, is especially obsessed with it. He loves to put a dollop on just about anything. Biscuits, muffins, eggs, ham sandwiches, burgers. You name it-he’ll give it a go.

And this wild Mustang Grape Jelly has become a new star in our house. The grape flavor is so intense and tart. I’m gonna follow my son’s footsteps and try it on everything too!

a sandwich idea with ham, cucumbers, carrots and onions on toast

It’s summer. I don’t know why but I thought I would have more time to relax when Summer arrived. Longer days, no homeschool, loosy-goosy schedule. But I feel just as busy- if not more.

I don’t want to spend a lot of time or brain power on dinner time. My husband, Nathan, is naturally gifted with knowing how flavors and spices will go together. He can whip up the tastiest things, seemingly out thin air. And using things I never would have thought to put together.

Learn how to sew a lovely, no-zipper skirt in this step by step tutorial.

The lines of the skirt are so pretty in this picture.

This No- Zipper Skirt is beautiful and simple to make. It took me three days to sew but only because my baby is going through a “no nap” phase. There were a lot of little feet on my fabric and loud tumbling and laughing all around.

Look at those little toes! I kept my hand over the pins so he wouldn’t walk on them.

A poke cake is a great dessert for any occasion or Holiday. All you need to do is change the color of the Jello and you’ve got a cake for any season!

That color is so dreamy!

I am so grateful to live in The United States of America! I love my country and I love to celebrate it! My Mom taught me to respect the flag and to be thankful for our freedom. Thank You to anyone who has served so we all can be free and happy and safe!

One time we were driving to church and my mom stopped the car because she saw that someone’s flag had fallen out of it’s holder. We were in a hurry but she took the time to go pick it up, and knock on the door to hand it back to them. That made an impact on me.

three kinds of freezer pops on ice. chocolate, cherry fruit, and yogurt and fruit.

My kids are popsicle fanatics. They want them all year round. Since we live in Texas, I feel especially obligated to keep some on hand in the summertime. I often grab whatever is cheapest at the store, usually a big ole bag of twin pops or the Walmart brand of the Otter Pops.

But this year I have a blog and my oldest kid hates those other popsicles. Two very good reasons to come up with some new, easy popsicles that even my kids can make.
